Well, the time has come. I’m not sure where to begin or what to even say about Las Cruces except that it has been a rewarding eight years and two weeks. I remember going through many phases or “eras” in this city but some solid relationships remained constant through it all and that, of course, is what I’ll miss the most. A sliver of me appreciates the fleeting and problematic moments too. The darker times were a catalyst for major “glow-ups” and I respect the reasons why things we can’t change happen to us.
In retrospect, I was really unsure of myself or what the heck I was doing going to college here but that uncertainty evolved into so much opportunity. House shows, galleries, NMSU, study abroad, the farmers market, breweries, open mics, festivals, random country concerts at the Pan Am, El Patio…I’d classify this city as a unique and prideful area of the Southwest. As a biased native New Mexican, I give it a proper 10 out of 10 for lifestyle, friendliness, community and food.
You won’t see a picture gallery here as there is simply too many moments to choose from. As Rose Dawson once put it, “they exist now only in my memory.”
