For work and team building, we headed off to Portugal. I enjoyed Lisbon so much. It’s been cold in London for the longest time and the stretch into spring is just dragging along. It was nice to get a taste of the warmth that’s hopefully ahead. It wasn’t hot but the sun….you know it hits different when its about to be Spring.
I’m terrible and hadn’t researched much before visiting. Maybe I don’t want my thoughts influenced in anyway if I can help it. My roommate is Portuguese so it was cool to see their home! I was with a large group and definitely reliant on our mob to kind of lead us around. The first night there however, I was our team ‘‘leader’’ taking us around on a self guided treasure hunt through the city. We worked together to solve the riddles that came up on my phone. I highly recommend this if you’d like to see things you may not normally learn about as a tourist. The hills of course we had to conquer to get from a-to-b while racing to beat the other team taking the funicular. And then of course an eye watering view of the city during sunset awaits you at the top. It really is that ridiculously good.
But really, it is silly how pretty scenes of places can be. I think people love traveling because it can put our lives into perspective a lot of times and hopefully lets us stop if even for five minutes to just look around.
The rest of the week, I got to know my team really well and of course, one reason I started this blog, eat lots food. My roommate recommended a place called Honest Greens to me which ended up being right across the street from the hotel! I think I had it twice while I was there. It has since inspired a recipe with black beans I’ve been making since I got home. On our final day, we ended the trip with a food tour around Lisbon where we had cheeses, sardines, coconut desserts and much more.
